Services
Practical advice, from the first walk onwards.
Everything starts with a site visit. From there I can map and plan, support you through the year, and point you to the funding and the specialists you need.

Where it starts
Site visit
This is the basis of everything I do. We walk the land together, look at what you are already doing and talk through which habitats are missing and how to create them. I want to hear what you want from the place, because that shapes all the advice.
Visits usually run from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, depending on the size of the farm and the range of habitats. I take photos as we go, and drone footage where it helps.
Afterwards you get a written follow-up covering the questions raised on the day and the next steps I suggest.
Site visits are a paid professional service. I will confirm the details and cost with you before booking. If you have an SBI number, send it with your enquiry so I can look at the land before I arrive.
Going further
Maps and habitat plans
If you want to go further, I produce maps and plans as separate pieces of work. They are built in LandApp, so you can open them on your phone in the field.
- Baseline habitat map: what you have now, field by field, so you can measure change.
- Land management plan map: where new habitats could go, and how the farm could look with more variety and structure.
- Water map: how water moves across the land, to place ponds, scrapes and wetland.
- Habitat management plan: what to plant and where, where the leaky dams and ponds go, with a work plan and budget estimates.

Through the year
Ongoing advice and support
A lot of the work happens after the plan is written. I can stay with you through the year on a retainer built around what you need.
- Seasonal online check-ins to review what has been done and plan what comes next
- Site visits in summer and winter to walk the land, check progress and solve problems
- Maps and plans kept up to date in LandApp
- Time set aside each month for quick questions by WhatsApp, email or a call

What I help with
Habitat restoration
Species-rich grassland, scrub mosaics, wood pasture, heathland, wetland and natural regeneration, designed around what your land wants to be. Often the materials are already there: felled trees leant against living ones, or cut brash used as scaffolding for dog rose and bramble to protect young trees.
Grazing and large herbivores
The right animals, in the right numbers, moving in the right way. Managed grazing is what keeps restored habitats varied. My rule of thumb: eat a third, trample a third, leave a third.
Water and wetlands
Leaky woody dams, ponds, scrapes and wet woodland ghylls. I look at where the water sits and how it moves, then slow it down and put it to work.
Species recovery
Practical planning for reintroductions and target species, from beavers and Konik ponies to the dung beetles and other insects that depend on the right sward and the right grazing.
Finding funding
SFI, Countryside Stewardship, Landscape Recovery, Biodiversity Net Gain and nature credits. I help you find the schemes and markets that fit your plans, and I can introduce you to trusted natural capital specialists where you need more.
Mapping and habitat plans
Clear, field-ready maps and plans built in LandApp, so everyone on the farm knows what is happening, where and when. I am a LandApp Accredited Professional.
A trusted network of specialists
I do not carry out ecological surveys myself. When a project needs them, I can put you in touch with ecologists and specialist surveyors I trust, from UK Habitat assessments to soil sampling and drone LiDAR surveys.
The same goes for natural capital: I work alongside experienced specialists in carbon, biodiversity units and nature markets, and will introduce you where it helps.
