I help landowners bring nature back into the heart of their land. That means restoring habitats, getting the grazing right, putting water back where it wants to be, and finding the funding that makes it all stack up.

Every project starts the same way: we walk the land together. Good advice comes from what is actually in front of you, not what looks good on paper.

How I work

From first walk to a plan that works.

01

Site visit

We walk the land together. I look at what you are already doing, which habitats are missing, and I listen to what your aspirations are. A written follow-up covers the questions from the day and the practical next steps.

02

Maps and plans

If you want to go further, I map the opportunities in LandApp and build a habitat plan you can use in the field: what to plant and where, from leaky dams and ponds to wood pasture and grazing plans.

03

Ongoing support

Seasonal check-ins, visits through the year and a phone that gets answered, so questions get dealt with and we work with nature and can adapt to it. I want you to learn how to

Services

What I help with

Habitat restoration

Species-rich grassland, scrub, wood pasture, wetland and natural regeneration, designed around what your land wants to be.

Grazing and large herbivores

The right animals, in the right numbers, moving in the right way. Managed grazing is what makes restored habitats work.

Water and wetlands

Leaky woody dams, ponds, scrapes and wet woodland ghylls. I read where the water sits and we put it to work.

Species recovery

Practical planning for reintroductions and target species, from beavers and Konik ponies to the insects that need the right sward.

Finding funding

Biodiversity Net Gain, Wilder Carbon and nature credits. I help you find the schemes that fit your plans and the people to help them happen.

Mapping and habitat plans

Clear, field-ready maps built in LandApp, so everyone on the farm knows what is happening, where and when.

About

“A farmer for nature.”

Benedict Macdonald, author and naturalist

I’m Ross Wingfield. I have managed land for over 25 years: ten years running the estate at National Trust Scotney Castle, six years advising farmers across the High Weald National Landscape, and leading nature restoration at Real Wild Estates and RESTORED LAND LIMITED. At the end of 2025 I established Nature Works Ltd so I could do what I do best, working directly with the people who influence the land.

In development

Fixed-point photography

A timber post, a phone rest and a QR code. Anyone walking past lines up the same view and adds their photo, and over the seasons your site builds its own record of change.

Same spot, same direction, every time. I am developing this now. If you would like it on your land, let me know and I will be in touch when it is ready.

Tell me about your land.

Send me a few lines about the place and what you would like from it, and I will come back to you. If you have an SBI number, add it and I can look at the land before we speak.

I only use your details to reply to you. See my privacy notice.
